Pet Identification

Because we understand that your pet is an important member of your family, we offer micro chipping and tattooing, both permanent forms of identification.  Micro chipping can be done at any time and involves a very simple and basically non invasive method of implanting an AKC international microchip small enough to go through a hypodermic needle.  The chip is implanted under the skin, usually in the scruff area, and can be read by a scanner.  The number on the chip will be unique to your pet.  Hayden Pet Medical Center then place that number and your information on an international register.  If your pet is lost and recovered the person who finds it can have the chip scanned and then call a toll free number where  the owner information you have provided has been stored so that you and your pet can be reunited in this country or abroad.  In this day of electronic communication we have all read heart-warming stories of such reunions, sometimes after very long periods of time.

We also do tattooing (under anesthesia) which is another way of marking your pet with a name or number for identification. We will be happy to discuss with you the pros  and cons of micro chips and tattoos.

Finally, we also pet ID cards which are sized to fit in your pocket or wallet. Each one contains a photo of your pet as well as vaccine, health, pet and owner information. Your pet ID card is a valid vaccine certificate, so is perfect for the pet that travels.
